Quilting Quest

Marion Evans, from Project Linus UK, is on a quest to recruit quilt-makers! Project Linus is a voluntary organisation providing comfort quilts and blankets for sick and traumatised children. Marion, who was Llangynog WI’s speaker for April, is the co-ordinator for the whole of North Shropshire, Powys and the Welsh Borders.

Members were amazed at the quality and quantity of the quilts that Marion brought along, and were moved by the many stories she shared about the children who had received such quilts over the years. Everyone was fascinated by the variety of techniques used in producing such exciting and intricate pieces of work, and recognised this as a real opportunity for quilters to put their skills and creativity to such a useful purpose.

Using Project Linus knitting patterns, members Cath Williams and Anne Evans, brought along skilfully knitted blankets and hats, which Marion will donate to a family crisis centre in her area. An interesting and informative evening was enjoyed by all!

Thanks to Anne Evans and Cath Williams for preparing a welcome supper and to Anne Hill who provided this month's raffle prize, a stack of picnic glasses, which were won by Pauline Nicholls.
